Julphar invites pharmacists to attend a CME program on diabetes

2016-10-17
Julphar has conducted another round of JUMP – the Julphar Updates on Modern Pharmacy accredited CME (Continuous Medical Education) program for pharmacists in UAE, this time focusing on diabetes and pharmacists’ role in its management. The event took place at the Park Hyatt Dubai on October 14th, 2016.

This edition of JUMP was attended by 100 pharmacists. It was the opportunity for the company to highlight the launch of its latest products prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes in adult patients: Xelevia and Velmetia – a launch part of Julphar’s license, supply and co-marketing agreement signed in April 2014 with the global pharmaceutical leader, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).

During the event, the attending pharmacists got an update on the pharmacists’ role in diabetes management, medication safety and on the basic communication skills needed in their daily practice. The topics are part of JUMP’s mission to help pharmacists improve their knowledge and change their perspective on modern pharmacy, and to assist them in dealing with the plural situations they face in their work environment.

“JUMP’s role is to highlight the importance of pharmacists’ mission in the overall healthcare system and to help them get the proper knowledge they need in their daily practice,” said Dr Hosam Badr, Marketing Director at Julphar. “As commonly known – the Middle East region is particularly affected by diabetes and it came as a priority for Julphar to work on the improvement of people’s quality of life in this sector. The launch of Xelevia and Velmetia is part of this mission and it was clear that JUMP was the perfect platform to help disseminate the words among pharmacists in UAE.”

Similar edition of JUMP will take place in Al Ain on October 21st as a continuation of the diabetes-focused CME program.
